A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of the Huntington man killed Saturday morning in Kosciusko County.

The page for the family of Connor Small can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/connor-cbo?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=unknown&utm_campaign=comms_p98v+connor-cbo. It is organized by Sierra Small and the goal to reach is $10,000, of which about $1,600 was raised by midday Monday.

On the page, it reads, “Connor was killed in a horrible car accident trying to do the right thing and help someone out! This is still a nightmare. Connor always was the first to help everyone, was full of love and so caring. He was everyone’s best friend we all love and miss you, bubba, fly high! Let’s show him how much love we can give back and give him the best celebration of life that we can!”

At 5 a.m. Saturday, emergency personnel responded to an unknown accident on U.S. 30 in the area of CR 450E and found a single vehicle involved in a rollover crash. It was determined that a Honda Pilot, driven by Austin Martin, of Huntington, had exited the south side of U.S. 30, rolled over, hit a NIPSCO utility pole and came to a rest on the passenger side. During the vehicle rollover, Conner Small, 24, Huntington, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Martin and two other passengers in the Pilot were injured and transported to EMS to local hospitals. Martin reported he drove off the road after being sideswiped by another vehicle that failed to stay in its lane.

A description of the other vehicle was dispatched to surrounding law enforcement agencies and jurisdictions. The Huntington County Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle, an Oldsmobile Alero, which was being driven at that time by Jayla Kelsey, 19, Huntington. Also inside the Alero were passengers Cayden W. Collins, 20, Andrews, and Gage Overholser, 21, no address listed. Neither Kelsey nor the passengers would speak about the collision.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Collins was the driver of the Alero at the time of the crash, and the vehicle is registered under his name.

Collins was placed under arrest and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail where he was preliminary charged with one count of felony leaving the scene of a fatality accident, a Level 4 felony.

Kelsey was booked into the Huntington County Jail at 8 a.m. Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated - endangerment, operating a vehicle with a controlled substance, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and consumption of alcohol by a minor.
