God's Path

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I have read the paper with a lot of different emotions these days, the same way I approach a new day that God has chosen to give me. We, as human beings, are all living on borrowed time the way I look at it. How can anyone walk outside, look at how the Earth and the planets and stars are made, and not believe there is a God? It is something I have been taught since my birth to Christian parents, who were farmers.

There have been tragedies and pitfalls in my life and a lot of bad health issues for quite some time, some as a result of things done to this body by people I was very close to. I came to a fork in the road a long time ago. One path takes you to hatred and bitterness and not doing as God wants us to treat one another. There is a second path that I chose that involves having a very strong faith in God.

I chose the second path. It is one that has brought me hardships. Over the years, I have found that no matter what pit of earthly hell I may find myself, God is there, too, and has people already there to help me be the type of Christian that he can teach me to be if I keep an open mind and allow him to teach me as only he and others more intelligent than I can still do. I know in whom I have believed and am persuaded is my Lord and Savior.

How far as a nation are we going to have to get before the righteous stand up and defend what this country stands for and the very reason it was founded - religious freedom? If you were to trace our troubles back through history, I would say the problems started for America when we stopped allowing prayer and the name of God to be used in the schools. I would say that the government once founded on the Constitution but which now is being bent to pieces to omit God totally could be pinpointed as the source of all the evil coming down on us as of now.

I know what I will be doing to offset that evil! You do what you want to. I know what has always worked for me.

Are we ever going to reach the point where we are willing to admit the mistakes we have made and take the blame for them and seek the help it takes to truly change ourselves into the right kind of human being we are supposed to be? I am more than willing to admit my mistakes and woman enough to say I am sorry to someone I have deliberately hurt out of hatred for them as a human being. God will keep me "a work in progress" all the days.

The world needs some old-fashioned revival! Anybody got an Amen to that? I do. We can lie to one another and use one another for whatever. When you do that to God and his people, you will not find me anywhere close to you! We need to put God back where he belongs and wants to be.
