God Vs. The News Media

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
I enjoy reading Mr. Gerard's News Views in the Saturday Times-Union. In his latest article he wrote, "I am not a global warming denier." Certainly the so-called "news media" in America today is running wild with the theory that mankind is going to make the planet uninhabitable.
But I disagree. Global warming is flattery as to the power of mankind. The humanistic idea that mankind can change the planet in any appreciable way so that it would be ruinous to the human race is folly. Such thoughts ignore the fact that the Lord God, our Creator, would not have thought about all the future activities of human beings which He created. God knows the end from the beginning. He created everything simply speaking it into existence, and made man in His own image – and God is not a monkey.
I trust what God tells us in the Bible. It states that "while the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." (Genesis 8:22 KJV) In plain common sense language that means God is in control of His creation. Man certainly makes some messes. Forest fires in our western States are huge in some years. Natural disasters like the eruption of Mount St. Helens are all things which God is acutely aware of.
The Apostle Paul told his hearers on Mars Hill in Athens, Greece, about our loving Creator in the book of Acts, chapter 17.  Paul said God gives to all "life, and breathe, and all things," and "in Him (God) we live, and move, and have our being." That's pretty easy to understand.
There will be a global warming all right, in due time, which is Heavenly time. In other words, when God decides to end life on this earth, He will do so. At that time, the earth and all the heavens are going to melt with a fervent heat, at God's direction, the Bible says. His Son, Jesus Christ, the desire of all nations and the Savior of the world, will be glorified in Heaven.
This Christmas time, celebrating the first appearance of the Son of God, is a great time to trust Jesus Christ as your personal Savior by faith in what He came to earth for–to die in your place, the just for the unjust. God loves you. And His second coming is imminent!
