Gloria Schmid, 74, Rochester, N.Y., died Oct. 1, 2008, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y.
She was born April 4, 1934, in Huntington, to Leslie W. and Berniece M. Vardaman McBride. On Dec. 29, 1951, she married Eugene "Gene" Drabenstot, who passed away April 23, 1979. On April 27, 1984, she married Ramon "Ray" Schmid, who passed away Dec. 5, 2002.
She was a homemaker and and a member of the Welcome Wagon. She was a volunteer at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, Senior Center and Med Park Treatment Center. She was a member of Welcome Wagon's Bowling League, Bridge Club, Euchre Club, Adult Children of Alcoholics, the Dancing Grannies, and Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. She also was a volunteer at Cambridge House. She lived in Rochester, N.Y., for the past three years after coming from Warsaw.
Surviving are five daughters; Paulette (and spouse Eric) Schaaf and Karen Lawniczak, all of Fairport, N.Y., Linda Smith, Bellingham, Wash.; and Sue Pavey and Valerie Burns, both of Huntington; four sons; Stace (and spouse Rhonda) Drabenstot, Wabash; Tony (and spouse Liz) Schmid, LaFontaine; Terry Schmid, Spring, Texas; and Tom (and spouse Carmen) Schmid, Windsor, Colo.; 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Donna (and spouse Gordon) Huston, Wolcotville, and Nancy (and spouse Willis) Reed, Huntington.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Winona Lake Grace Brehtren Church with Pastor Bruce Barlow officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's United Church Of Christ Cemetery, Huntington.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
