COLUMBIA CITY - Gloria J. Cook, 82, of Columbia City, died at 4:42 p.m. March 9, 2010, in Parkview Whitley Hospital.

She was born July 5, 1927, in Columbia City, to LeRoy and Helen Denton Gruesbeck. On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Jack Allen Cook, who died May 20, 2000.

She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1945. In 1985, she moved to Lake Wawasee. After her husband died, she moved back to Columbia City. In addition to being a homemaker, she and her husband owned and operated Cook Lanes Bowling Alley and Ten Pin Restaurant and Lounge for 41 years. She was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

Surviving are three sons, Randall A. Cook, North Webster, and Ross (and spouse Becky) Cook and Ryan (and spouse Karen) Cook, all of Columbia City; a daughter, Reisa (and spouse John) Snyder, Winona Lake; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. C. Jack Scott officiating. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery, Columbia City.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
