Global Warming

What is global warming? Warming is when the Earth’s temperature is heating up. The average temperature has been climbing 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit around the world sine 1880. This is happening because greenhouse gases, which consists of carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide and methane, trap heat and light from the sun into the Earth’s atmosphere and it can’t get out.

Hello, I am Morgan Hartle. I am a sophomore at WCHS. I am very concerned with the topic of global warming. It is hurting everybody and everything around the globe.

There are many things that can cause global warming such as turning on a light, using a hair dryer, riding in a car, using the computer and etc. Another way global warming is caused is by cutting down trees, forests or wooded areas. The reason why cutting down trees is bad is because trees collect carbon dioxide. Humans let our carbon and take in oxygen but trees do the opposite. They take in carbon and let out oxygen. Therefore, if we were to cut down trees, we would just be harming ourselves.

There are around 3 to 6 billion trees cut down each year across the glove. This is hurting our environment and our community by lessening our oxygen supply. This issue may not be able to be seen now, but in years to come it may take a toll on our world, as we know it.

My idea is that we, the community of Warsaw, have “Plant a Tree Day!” People all over including businesses, schools, organizations and more would be given the opportunity to plant a tree and save our world.

Even if our whole community were to plant a tree or even two, we would still not match what is being cut down. Therefore, we need for you, the community, to spread the word. This could happen by Facebook, Twitter, friends and family, or any way to get the word out there. We, the little town of Warsaw, could play a part in saving the world. So come on, join in.
