Glenna Irene Shuter, 85, of Grace  Village Retirement Community, 1413 Sunset Drive, Winona Lake, passed away at 8:13 p.m. Dec. 29, 2011, in  Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Plymouth, to Glenn and Dessie Shadley Sherer. On Sept. 3, 1944,  she married Virgil Shuter, who died  in 2005.
She was a 1944 graduate of Aurora High School with a Steno Bookkeeping Civil Service Degree. She was a self-employed hairdresser for many years, retiring in 1988. She also was a teller and trust bookkeeper for 10 years at First National Bank,  LaPorte, as well as having worked for two years at Kingsbury Ordnance Plant, Kingsbury.
She moved to Kosciusko County four years ago and has been residing at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, in the Robin Hood Condominiums. There she was involved with the Grace Village Reading Club and Poetry Club.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego, as well as attending Warsaw Community Bible Church. While she lived in LaPorte, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, librarian, clothes give-away coordinator and treasurer for many years. She was a member of the LaPorte Camera & Travel Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay (and spouse Dr. Robert) Courtney, Hillsdale, Okla.; two sons, Kevin (and spouse Teresa) Shuter, Rolling Prairie, and Kip (and spouse Sandi) Shuter, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren:  Matthew (and spouse Swati) Shuter, Peyton, Colo.;  Ashley (and spouse Jeff) Wright, Rolling Prairie; Philip (and spouse Jessi) Courtney, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Joshua, Carrie, Abby, Megan and Paul Courtney, all of Hillsdale; and Andrew and Stephanie Shuter, both of Warsaw; and three great-grandchildren, Macy and Maya Wright and Nathaniel Courtney. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Bonnie Shuter; four sisters: Rosella Brown, Martha Mae Dean, Vivian McIntyre and Charlotte Snyder; and three brothers, Franklin, Dale and Terrance Sherer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday (EST) at Redpath-Fruth funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, officiated by Dr. Roderick Smith and Pastor Kirk Barger. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. (CST) at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City.
