Glenn Devoe Stump, 87, died Sept. 2, 2009, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
He was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Noble County, to Ernest L. and Erma Bennett Stump. On Sept. 14, 1946, he married Betty Kinsey. who survives.
Living most of his life in Warsaw and Kosciusko County, he was a polisher and buffer at Hand Polishing, Warsaw, retiring in 1984. He was a North Webster volunteer firefighter in his earlier years. He enjoyed nature as he watched the birds and deer and loved summer fishing and ice fishing. He entered the U.S. Navy Jan. 23, 1942, in Chicago, Ill. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged Dec. 12, 1945, from the U.S. Naval Personnel Separation Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
Also surviving are a daughter, Peggy Zorn, Winona Lake; three grandchildren: Glen Scott (and spouse Penny) Zorn, Warsaw; Tina (and spouse John) Anderson, Pierceton; and David (and spouse Cyndi) Bechtold, Knob Lick, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katie, Ryan, Jack and Cheyenne. He was preceded in death by a brother; a sister; an infant son, Glenn David Stump; and a daughter, Nancy Jo Bechtold, who died in 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Denney Bollenbacher of New Beginnings Church, Atwood. Burial will be in Mock Cemetery, North Webster, with military graveside honors by members of North Webster American Legion Post 253.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
