NAPPANEE – Gladys M. Wagner, 94, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, formerly of Nappanee, died at 3:25 a.m. Nov. 23, 2011, in the nursing home, where she had been a resident since 2003. She was born March 13, 1917, in St. Joseph County, to John and Clara Price Bixler. She lived her lifetime in this area. On April 11, 1936, in Southwest, she married Donald Wagner, who preceded her in death Oct. 19, 2003. She was a 1935 graduate of Madison High School. She was a housewife and a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church and Women’s Missionary Society. She was a former member of the Ever Ready and Charm Club. Surviving are a daughter, Annette (and spouse Michael) Umbaugh; a son, Larry (and spouse Char) Wagner, both of Nappanee; a son-in-law, Michael Neff, Syracuse; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Beadle, Hubbard Hill, Elkhart. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Kay Neff; a daughter-in-law, Jane Wagner; a great-granddaughter; and sisters, Erma Johnson-Reedy and Marie Bixler. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nappanee Missionary Church, with Rev. Norm Reimer officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
