Giving Basics Aims To Help The People In Malawi

"God created (the people of the world) as one," said Stalin Mughandira.
That's why the people of his country, Malawi, should have the same access to education and other basic needs met, he said.
The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday for a local Christian nonprofit, Giving Basics, which aims to help the people of the Mzimba district of Malawi.
The celebration was more specifically aimed at a flour mill Giving Basics had helped establish in partnership with African nonprofit Shine Malawi, which Mughandira serves as director for.
Wes Sigler, who owns Blue River Digital in Warsaw, runs Giving Basics with his wife, Amy Sigler.
The Siglers were motivated to start Giving Basics after their experience financially sponsoring several children through Shine Malawi and learning about their needs, particularly for water and food.
Giving Basics began in 2023 and has been connected to Shine Malawi ever since.
Through donations, people may pay for children's education, well projects, food for schools and villages and more.
As Amy Sigler noted, 100% of any amount given goes to those in Malawi. Thus far, thousands of kids have gotten school meals thanks to the Giving Basics and Shine Malawi partnership.
People may donate by going to givingbasics.org and clicking on the Donate tab. For more information, people may email info@givingbasics.org.
Amy Sigler added people may also give from their stock dividends. They may also note when they send their money what projects they want it to go for.
Descriptions of all of the projects may be found on Giving Basics' website. Those include a proposed resource center.
"In the future, there will probably even be a bridge project, because they lack infrastructure in Malawi," said Amy Sigler.
"We are very excited and very happy to have this partnership of Giving Basics and Shine Malawi for all the activities that we do in Malawi," said Mughandira.
