Giverny Hopes To Give Unique Experience

Posted
When the Biocrossroads report came out on Warsaw and the orthopedics industry, Missy Cook thought of her business.

Missy Cook is the business manager of Giverny Fitness Studios, and along with her sister-in-law, Kelly Britton, owner, the two run the business on South Buffalo Street in Warsaw.Usually reserved for more metropolitan areas, the downtown fitness studio offers a unique blend of classes and personal training.

Using the space of a renovated 100-year-old building, Giverny has three different studio spaces for group exercise.

There is boot camp, Zumba, hip hop dance classes and body sculpt to name a few as well as things like yoga and pilates.

Jim Mills, a cross country coach at Warsaw Community High School, serves as a personal coach at Giverny.

The studio even offers child care for children 6 weeks through 12 years old for parents wishing to get in some exercise.

The building is 8,000 square feet and almost all of it is used for fitness.

The building speaks to a resurgence of businesses giving it a shot in downtown Warsaw.

"It had the feel of a big city studio," said Cook. "I know from working in the orthopedic industry that those companies have a hard time keeping people in Warsaw instead of Fort Wayne. We hope places like this can attract people to Warsaw."

More than 900 people have received instruction or attended classes through Giverny.

Britton has been doing fitness training in the area for six years, and said she saw a need for a place like Giverny.

"Our instructors are passionate and dedicated," said Britton. "They want to make a difference in people's lives."

Giverny has been open since March and even offers space rental for parties for both adults and kids.

Giverny is at 207 S. Buffalo St. in Warsaw.
