Get To Know Trustee’s Role

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Hey everyone: That website for finding out about the Wayne Township trustee (and all other local government info) that Sheila Burner told us about in her letter to the editor is excellent. Here it is again if you missed it: budgetnotices.in.gov/unit_lookup.aspx?ct=43000. I’ve been researching the trustee for months since deciding to run for the office, and I’ve never come across this information anywhere. Thanks to outgoing trustee Sheila Burner for letting us know about it as she retires.

We should all pay attention to our government and community, and now that we know when the next board meeting will be on Oct. 4 at 4 p.m., let’s attend and get engaged. I’ll be in the Wayne Township trustee’s office located at 553 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw (across from the Old Marsh). Won’t you join me? It’s a fantastic idea for many people of all political persuasions to know where the office is located and what it does. As I canvass door to door around town, I often ask, “Do you know what a trustee is? Do you know where the trustee’s office is located?” And very few people can answer. This is a golden opportunity to be informed.

Our attendance would also give Republican candidate Jeannie S. the chance to clarify the plan for Wayne Township’s stash of unused $1.2 million tax dollars, which I and multiple other letter writers have asked about, and which Sheila’s letter ignores. I again ask Jeannie for a public debate on these matters and the future mission and vision of the Wayne Township trustee’s office.
