Gerald M. Miller, 80, Warsaw, passed away at 8:08 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, in his residence.
He was born Dec. 1, 1937, to Clarence Maxwell and Hazel Starner Miller in Leesburg.
He graduated from Leesburg High School, then Manchester College in 1960, earning a bachelor’s degree in music and a minor in English. He also earned a master’s degree in special education in 1970 from the University of St. Francis.
He was a teacher in special education for 23 years. He taught at Larwill and Manchester High School for five years. He also enjoyed working for the west-side Owen’s grocery store for almost 10 years, retiring in 1983.
He was of the Protestant faith, going to New Salem Church. He sang and played the piano in the Music Community Gospel Quartet for four years.
He is survived by his partner, Rick Jarnagin, Warsaw; a son, Paul Michael (Tammy) Miller, Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Lori Sue (Paul) Miller Westgate, Massachusetts; and his grandchildren: Robert, Ian and Paul Miller.
He was preceded by his parents and a sister.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
