Dean Kimmel, 79, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, passed away at 7:06 a.m. May 31, 2011, at Grace Village Health Care.
He was born June 30, 1931, in Noble County, to Donald Guy and Lora Ethel Hypes Kimmel. On April 28, 1952, he married Marlene Joan Moser, who survives in Winona Lake.
He retired in 1986 after serving for 36 years in the U.S. Air Force, enlisting in 1949. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past four years. He attended Grace Village Chapel, Winona Lake.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marlene Joan Kimmel; a daughter, Deborah (and spouse Dale) Trahin, Fort Wayne; three sons: Bradley (and spouse Linda) Kimmel and Barton (and spouse Shelley) Kimmel, all of Fort Wayne, and Matthew (and spouse  Michelle) Kimmel, Geneso, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Naola Reed, Ligonier; and a brother, Gwan (and spouse Rose) Kimmel, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jocelyn Hess.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. June 30, 2011,  in the chapel of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, officiated by Chaplain Glenn Byers.  Burial will be at a later date in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
