Gerald C. KennyGerald C. Kenny, 79, of Columbus, Ind., lived life to its fullest until 3:30 p.m. May 19, 2022, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born Dec. 28, 1942, to James and Helen Kenny in Flint, Mich.

Gerald was a 1960 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School in Mt. Morris, Mich. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1960-1963.

Gerald married the love of his life, Rosemary Ann Duquette, on Feb. 5, 1966. Together, they had four daughters: Christine K. Kenny, of Nashville; Michelle M. Rutan, of Nashville; Katheryn L. Kenny and Julie A. Edwards, of Columbus. He was blessed with one grandson, his namesake Gerald N. Edwards.

Gerald was a lifelong foundryman, starting his career at General Motors in 1964 as a foreman in Flint, Mich.; moving to Warsaw in 1977, working at Dalton Foundry as melting superintendent; and moving to Columbus, Ind., in 1984, retiring from Golden Foundry Melting as molding manager in 2005.

He was an avid sports fan - football, basketball, racing, the list goes on. If he was not on the golf course, he was watching a game or match on TV. He also was an avid hunter, not missing many seasons Up North with the crew at Kamp Kenny. Spending time with family and friends, he was at his happiest.

He was known by many names: JK, High Pockets and, as of late, the One-Legged Ass Kicker. Our favorites were husband, dad, gramps, brother, uncle and friend.

Gerald was a member of Eagles Lodge #741, Moose Lodge #398, American Legion Post 24 and VFW Post 1925.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; daughters: Christine Kenny, Michelle Rutan and Julie Edwards; grandson, Gerald Edwards; his siblings, all Michiganders: Joseph (Judy) Kenny, Robert (Diane) Kenny, Louise Kenny, Kathryn Kujacznski and John (Linda) Kenny; many nieces and nephews, which he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Kenny; his parents: James and Helen Kenny; brother, Thomas Kenny; sister, Lois Hughes; brothers-in-law: Ronald Hughes and Dale Kujacznski.

Please join us for a celebration of Jerry's life on June 11 at the Eagles Lodge #741 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Columbus, Ind. Inurnment will be in the Saint Mary’s Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Mt Morris, Mich., at a later date. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service were entrusted with his arrangements.
