Georgina ‘Jean’ A. Ansell

Georgina “Jean” A. Ansell, Winona Lake, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, at the age of 85.

She was born March 24, 1932, in Willoughby, Ohio, to Daniel S. Beardsley and Ingabord D. Seehuus Beardsley. On Dec. 16, 1950, she was married to James D. Ansell, who passed away in July 2008.

Jean was a resident of Winona Lake, moving here from Akron, Ohio. She worked for many years at Banc One and was also a church secretary. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Winona Lake. Church had been a very important part of her life, and she very much enjoyed contributing her talents to her church family, serving as organist, choir director and Sunday school teacher.

Jean was an active volunteer throughout her life. She especially enjoyed supporting and volunteering at Urban Vision, Akron, Ohio. She also loved spending time with friends at KCSS. Jean will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Daniel C. Ansell, Fort Wayne; daughter, Catherine M. (Tim) Hood, Winona Lake; and her son-in-law, Garth Bertschi, Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: David (Angela) Bertschi, Columbus; Dean (Pamela) Bertschi, Columbus; Denise (Will) Buck, Columbus; Garth (Lori) Bertschi II, Jackson, Ohio; Brian (Christy) Ansell, New Franklin; Philip (Camitra) Hood, St. Augustine, Fla.; Aaron (Treasure) Hood, Warsaw; Jared (Megan) Hood, Kijabe, Kenya, Africa; and Andrew (Jenie Jill) Hood, Mason, Ohio; 20 grandchildren: Pammy, Ashley, Madison, Taylor, Lindsay, J.J., Gabe, James, Grant, Savannah, Calista, Macy, Ryan, Dane, Gavin, Garrett, Lena, Addilyn, Helen May and Braelynn; and her brother, Larry (Anita) Beardsley, Newton Falls, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Patrick Ansell; and her daughter, Susan Bertschi.

Her memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 708 College Ave., Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor John Quigley. Burial will be at a later date at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
