ROCHESTER – George Manns, 74, rural Claypool, passed away at 8 p.m. Aug. 11, 2015, in his residence. He was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Ellis and Daisy Bradford Manns. On March 21, 1959, in Silver Lake, he married Eula Mae Owens, who survives in Claypool. He worked for Dalton Foundry, Warsaw Foundry and Midwest Spring of Mentone where he retired in 1994. He also raised calves for many years. He greatly enjoyed riding around on his three-wheeler, backhoe, fishing boat and tractor with his beloved cat Romeo. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a great faith in God and his family was very important to him. Also surviving are: two sons, Shawn (and spouse Karen) Manns and Joe “David” (and spouse Lechia) Manns, all of Claypool; seven grandchildren: Jacob (and spouse Tambi) Manns and Tyler Manns, all of North Manchester; Jamie Manns, Boca Raton, Fla.; Jesse Manns (and Tia Clemons) and Emma and Matthew Manns, all of Warsaw; and Catherine “Cassie” Watson, Fort Wayne; four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Rayanne, Jacob and Jayden; four brothers: Lawrence Manns and Dale (and spouse Sue) Manns, all of Warsaw; Willard (and spouse Sue) Manns, Akron; Ed Manns, Silver Lake; six sisters: Annie Grace (and spouse Luther) Bailey and Mary Bell (and spouse James) Overbey, all of Claypool; Dorothy Bailey and Marcella (and spouse Lonnie) Dillon, all of Akron; Ruby Jean Keitzer, Fort Wayne; and Jenny Emmons, Silver Lake; and special friend, Jack Francis, Burket. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Ballard Manns; a sister-in-law, Ella Manns, and his best friend and cat, Romeo. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Luther Bailey officiating. Burial is in Akron Cemetery.
