NAPPANEE — George L. Malcolm, 88, formerly of Nappanee, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Milford.
He was born May 28, 1929, in Nappanee, to Earl and Ada Plank Malcolm.
Mr. Malcolm was a 1947 graduate of Nappanee High School and lived most of his life in this area.
His first marriage was on June 30, 1950, to Shirley A. Schmucker. She preceded in death Feb. 15, 1995. His second marriage was to Mary Katherine “Kate” Yoder on Sept. 17, 1995. She preceded him in death Dec. 30, 2014.
George was a supervisor at NIBCO for 26½ years. He also worked in the RV industry at Holiday Rambler.
Mr. Malcolm was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren and attended Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren in Florida, where he enjoyed spending winters.
George enjoyed mushroom hunting and vacationing in Wisconsin. He also enjoyed camping, golf and playing cards.
Surviving are his children: Brad Malcolm, Nappanee; Carla (Stephen) Harris, Warsaw; and Tamara (David) Harris, Waynesboro, Va.; stepchildren: Jack (Beth) Yoder, Goshen; Deborah (Robert) Mitchel, Nappanee; and Keith (Susan) Yoder, Wakarusa; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by sisters Alice Long, Dorothy Rink and Lucille Musselman and brothers Robert, Donald and John Malcolm.
Family and friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. The Rev. Byrl Shaver will officiate, and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
