MENTONE – George J. Reed, 86, Mentone, died at 6:14 p.m. March 10, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne. He was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Nappanee, to George M. and Dorothy Hardy Reed. On May 29, 1948, in Mentone, he married June Brown, who preceded him in death April 30, 2012. He was a machinist and an inspector at Precimed Inc., Columbia City. He was 1948 graduate of Mentone High School. He was a member of the Mentone Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping at Jellystone Park, and attending his grandchildren in sporting events. Most of all, he loved having his family close to him. Surviving are two sons, Terry (and spouse Debra) Reed, Mentone, and Rocky (and spouse Diane) Reed, Pierceton; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda (and spouse Allen) Corwin, Wakarusa. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Salena Ann Reed; a son, Max Lane Reed; two brothers, Bill and Glen; and three sisters: Cora, Glenice and Lucille. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastor Jeff Truex officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
