Lt. Col. George J. Ball, USAF (Ret.), 70, passed away April 27, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, Ill., of complications due to severe radiation burn.
George was born April 27, 1949, to John Jr. and Velma Ball.
George graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1967, Purdue University in 1971 with a BS in Industrial Management/Economics and in 1975 from Golden Gate University with a Masters in Public
Administration.
After over 22 years serving in the United States Air Force,
flying T-29 Navigator Training plane, C-130 cargo plane as well as several years in administration and planning, moving his family from Japan to Germany, George continued moving around the U.S., with trucking companies and business air- craft companies until he retired in 2018 to Shiloh, Ill.
George is survived by wife, Carla J. (Himes) Ball (WCHS ’67 and PU ’71), daughter, Victoria J. “Vici” (Craig) De Boer; granddaughters, Madi, Alli, Jami and Emmi, all of O’Fallon, Ill.; son, Brian (Sally) Ball, wife Sally and granddaughter Sophia of Westfield, Ind.
A celebration of life will be held at Pathways Church, Warsaw, at 11 a.m. on June 1. The American Legion will pres- ent an Honor Guard at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw at 3:30 in the Crematory Garden.
