George E. May

Posted
George E. May, 58, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, in Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital after a short illness.

George was born March 24, 1960, in Warsaw. He was the son of Robert and Ruby Sparks May.

George attended Tippecanoe Valley schools and began driving trucks at age 16. While driving a chicken hauler he met Teri Smith. Teri would be his companion and longtime friend. Together, the two shared nearly 40 years and a son, Chad May.

George was a giving person. He was always willing to help someone in a pinch and was not one to hold his opinion back. Honest and caring, he was a hard worker. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing, especially for bass.

In addition to his son, Chad May, and longtime friend Teri Smith, both of Warsaw, those surviving include George’s mother, Ruby May; two additional sons, Brock (Lindsey) O’Brien, Churubusco, and Nicholas Smith, Warsaw; a daughter, Olivia Smith, Warsaw; four brothers: John (Lisa) May, Rochester; Bill (Cindy) May, Tennessee; Carson (Shelly) May, Palestine; and Rod (Linda) May, Warsaw; and two sisters, Bobbie Welch, North Carolina, and Robin (Josh) Rhodes, Warsaw. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Those who preceded him in passing include his father; two aunts, Susie Davis and Barb Francis; and an uncle, Con May.

Friends may join family at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, for viewing from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. Kevin Gray, who was like a brother to George, will officiate a celebration of life service at 2 p.m.
