ANDERSON – George D. Franklin, 92, Anderson, formerly of Silver Lake, passed away Nov. 23, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Chesterfield. He was born, Dec. 4, 1922, in Spencer, to George and Leafie Thacker Franklin. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Container Corporation and then moved to Silver Lake to enjoy fishing full time. He and his wife, Edie, were members of the Akron Church of God and managed the Senior Center in Silver Lake for over 17 years. Surviving are his wife, Edith “Edie” Harper-Franklin, Silver Lake; three children, Harry (and spouse DyAnne) Franklin, Davison, Mich., and Joyce (and spouse David) Pike and Mike (and spouse Susie) Franklin, all of Anderson; two step-children, Jeannine and Daniel Harper, both of Rochester; 11 grandchildren: Barbra (and spouse Brent) Simpson; Steve, Valarie and Aaron Franklin; Douglas, Bethany, and Darren Mitchell; Derek (and spouse Kendra) Pike; Kortney (and spouse Jason) Zagorski; Kelly (and spouse Chris) Balich; and Alissa (and spouse Grant) Miller; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mervin and Morris Franklin; and one sister, Shirley Herndon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Franklin; one daughter, Rosalie Mitchell; three sisters, Rhoda Huber, Lorene Keep and Peggy Snapp; and one brother, Morris Franklin. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, Anderson, with Pastor Art Jaggard officiating.
