General Lee

The good news is Matt Perry is still alive. The bad news is he still leans so far to the left, he makes Dennis Kucinich look like a right-wing conspirator.

Matt never deals with facts, so I will.

Fact: Slavery had nothing to do with the Civil War. The war began, was fought, and ended over states' rights. The slavery issue was relevant only toward the end of the war.

Fact: General Lee did not quit. He surrendered. Critically short of resources, supplies and manpower, General Lee chose to surrender to save thousands of Unions and Confederate lines.

Fact: You have no idea, no concept of my mindset. Yes, I support President Bush. Yes, I whole-heartedly support our troops, in harm's way. Even though I am a three-war veteran, I hate war. But, the extremely brave men and women taking the fight to the terrorists need to know, and deserve to know, we will not "cut and run." If we "cut and run" now like we did in Vietnam, it will be like Yogi Berra said, "Deja Vu all over again!"

Fact: There are three rules of warfare. Rule No. 1: Young men and women die. Rule No. 2: Rule No. 1 cannot be changed. Rule No. 3: Someone must take the point.

Matt, read history, and don't "spin it."

God Bless America.
