BOURBON – Geneal E. Walters, 89, of Bourbon, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, in her home.
Geneal was born to Durward and Lura Fretz on May 3, 1936, in Plymouth. She graduated from Bourbon High School in 1954 and attended business classes at International Business School. She married Duane Walters on Sept. 3, 1954, and he survives.
She worked as a bookkeeper and did payroll for Kimble Glass in Warsaw. She was a member of Faith First Fellowship Church of Bourbon, the Silver Dollar Saddle Club, Kiwanis, the church choir, Helping Hands and the United Methodist Women. She was very active in her church, headed up funeral dinners, loved her church family, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Geneal will be dearly missed by her husband, Duane Walters; her daughter, Jackie Kindig, of Bourbon; her son, Brett (Savanah) Walters, of Bourbon; her sister, Marci Miller (John VeeVaete) Husband, of Mt. Vernon; her grandchildren: Matthew (Sunny) Kindig, of Rock Island, Ill.; Kayla (Cameron) Summers, of Winona Lake; Bailey Walters, of Nashville, Tenn.; her great-grandchildren: Kevin Kindig, Kacey Kindig, Quinten Summers, Sawyer Summers, Jacob Summers and Luke Summers.
Geneal was preceded in death by her parents, Durward and Lura Fretz; her son-in-law, Dan Kindig; and her brother-in-law, Jim Miller.
A visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Faith First Fellowship Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at Faith First Fellowship Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon, with Pastor Kenneth Cooke officiating. The burial will take place in Summit Chapel Cemetery, Ind. 10, Bourbon.
Memorial donations may be made to Triton School Corporation Scholarship Fund, 100 Triton Drive, Bourbon, IN 46504, in Geneal’s honor.
