He was born March 12, 1931, in Wabash County, to Dorsey E. "Sport" and Georgia Christman Metzger. On March 20, 1954, he married Helen J. Pyle, who survives.
He was a lineman with Public Service, REMC and retired from General Telephone. He was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester. He graduated from Chester High School, North Manchester, in 1949. He was a member of Deming Lodge 88 F&AM and Ivy Chapter 69 Order of Eastern Star. He served in the National Guard.
Also surviving are a son, Dan L. (and spouse Regina) Metzger, North Manchester; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
