NAPPANEE - Gene Blucker, 69, of 26170 CR 50, Nappanee, died at 11:45 p.m. Aug. 23, 2010, in Goshen General Hospital after a brief illness after complications following surgery.
He was born Feb. 7, 1941, in Nappanee, to Martin and Mary Yoder Blucker. On May 28, 1961, he married Joyce K. Shaum, who survives.
He was a Nappanee High School graduate and a lifetime member of North Main Mennonite Church. He volunteered at the Indianapolis Medical Center for two years. He was part owner of Marty & Ted, Nappanee.
Also surviving are a daughter, Terri Huber, Nappanee; a son, Dean (and spouse Julie) Blucker, Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two brothers, Dale (and spouse Pat) Blucker and Lonnie (and spouse Connie) Blucker, both of Nappanee; and his mother, Mary Blucker, Wakarusa. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at North Main Mennonite Church, Nappanee, with the Rev. Ruben Chupp officiating. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
