I recently read an article in the Times-Union on the "Day of Silence" at area high schools. While I was reading it, I was constantly thinking these people are just playing the victim card. And the victim card brings attention and then people feel bad, and we all have to be politically correct and accept these peoples' lifestyles because they're "just different."
This country is losing backbone when it comes to right and wrong. In case anyone was wondering, there is still a right and a wrong, a true and an untrue. There always has been and there always will be. But now wrong just becomes different and people accept it.
Maybe we should learn our lesson from two cities in history that God destroyed for the same kind of lifestyles we are allowing today. Homosexuality is clearly unacceptable in the sight of God, and God's word is truth. You can choose to agree with God or not, but one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess whether or not it is politically correct. Don't get me wrong, I am not condoning bullying on anyone or any group, but I am also not condoning the acceptance of wrong for "just different."
We live in a sinful world. There has always been bullying and there always will be. But just as I was taught by my father, you don't just run away from it. (Now to Teresa and your family: You will always run into racial discrimination because of the choice you made. Don't just run because your children will learn from you and think that running away from problems is OK.)
Parents, I hope that you will teach right and wrong to your children, and I thank those who do. I also thank those in leadership, whether in schools or our government, who stand up for right and wrong. I would hope that those who choose to observe the "Day of Silence" would remember you're only playing the victim card as a result of your own choice. And those Christian students in the high schools who face this day, I hope you will remember to love the sinner and hate the sin, just as God has done for you. Gay means happy, not homosexual.
