Editor, Times-Union: No knowledge, of course, if the vendors of gasoline in Kosciusko County took into account the possibility of having a Gas War, or even read the letter to the editor of June 09, 2011. However, the prices have gone down ... some. Perhaps due to the lower price per barrel of $94 as of this week? Or, just maybe my thought got into some craniums that our county could do something constructive about it. My suggestion was/is for the area vendors to lower their prices as much as they possibly can. We consumers can check the prices on our computer (must admit I’ve had some difficulty in bringing them up at times), then when in the area of the station with the lowest price, fill up. Also, I suggested buying “something” there to offset what they may have lost on the sale of gasoline. The average price per gallon nationwide is much lower than our county. A friend of mine was down south this week and paid $3.39 per gallon. This week here at the Sunoco Station in Pierceton the price was lowered. Also, the Sunoco on West Lake Street when I was out there. So I purchased there on Tuesday. Today, Friday, June 17, my computer says $3.719 as of 7:16 a.m. at Marathon Station in Leesburg. So when in that neighborhood ... . Let’s put some pressure on these owners/managers and get these prices down. Most cannot afford them. Lila O’Connell Pierceton, via e-mail
