Editor, Times-Union: I agree with Mr. Kuta. It is not the fault of managers that gas prices are so high in Warsaw.
But I respectfully disagree with his excuses.
First of all, the surrounding towns with lower gas prices selling gas lower than Warsaw also have to pay overhead such as payroll, lights, insurance. They have exactly the same overhead but their prices are lower, so that dog just don’t hunt, sir.
I agree with his comment about going to the source. I have called the company that my family have purchased gas from for many years and expressed my opinions. I have documented their response and will save that for a later date.
The fact remains Warsaw has the highest gas prices in northern Indiana and they are, simply put, taking advantage of us.
If we stop buying local gas and spending money in the gas station mini marts, the companies will want to know why their profits are down, it’s a simple fact of business. Many of us are old enough to remember the gas wars because certain stations were higher than others.
I encourage you to buy gas out of Warsaw whenever you can. The only way to get their attention is to see their profits fall. You save money and it feels good not to get taken advantage of, because the bottom line is they have taken advantage of us for years. But in this difficult economy maybe it’s time to send them a message ... and the only way to do that is get in their pocket book instead of allowing them to get in ours.
Give our money to the gas stations that have lower prices, help those that are helping us. Time for some real hope and change.
