Gas Prices

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

We as consumers have become complacent. When the price of crude oil was $150 a barrel for crude oil, the price of a gallon of gas was $4 and everyone was very upset at the price. Now the price of crude oil is below $50 a barrel for crude, but the price of a gallon of gas is around $2 a gallon. If my math is right, the price should be about $1.33 a gallon.

I don't think that it would cost anymore to refine, transport and sell $50 a barrel crude than it would cost to refine $150 a barrel crude.

Everyone is so happy that the price of gas is at or below $2 a gallon no one is wondering where the $0.66 cents a gallon are going. I wonder where the money is going? Just what pocket could it be going in? I know it is not mine.
