CROMWELL – Gary W. Helman, 56, Cromwell, passed away Aug. 25, 2014, at his home. He was born July 3, 1958, in Gary, to Virgil Leroy and Attabelle “Atta” Gipson Helman. He graduated in 1976 from Wawasee High School, Syracuse, and lived most of his life in the Cromwell area except a short time in California and Columbia City. He was formerly employed at Shoemaker’s, Columbia City. He was raised in the Pentecostal church. He is survived by three daughters: Emily, Rachel and Anna Helman, all of Columbia City; a grandson, Christopher Logan; his mother, Cromwell; a twin brother, Larry (and spouse Annette) Helman, Cromwell; and a sister, Teresa (and spouse Delmas) Davis, Goshen. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Michael Helman. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, with Pastor Carl Crise of the Whosoever Will Worship Center, Elkhart, and brother-in-law, Delmas Davis, officiating. Private family burial is in Syracuse Cemetery.
