Garage, Sign Requests OK’d By BZA

Garage, Sign Requests OK’d By BZAWarsaw Board of Zoning Appeals approved requests involving two properties Monday night.

Bennie Banghart, of 618 Webber St., asked and received permission to construct a garage closer to the front property line than the house. Placement toward the front was the best option  because there is no developed alley to use behind the house.

The board also approved an accompanying request to allow for a 16-foot setback for the garage.

The city plan office supported the request.

Another request, this one involving a sign in front of a new business, also had a favorable recommendation from the plan office.

Brian Peterson has constructed a new real estate office at 2008 E. Center St., next door to his previous office, and requested permission to use a sign larger than what is permitted within the R-3 district. The sign will be 36 square feet and 6 feet tall.

The sign would be the second on the property, which is not uncommon in the area but does require approval as a variance from development standards. That was also approved.
