Fire destroyed a two-car unattached garage this morning on Fox Farm Road. A cause for the 2:11 a.m. fire has not been determined and the structure and contents are a total loss, according to Warsaw Fire Department Chief Ken Shepherd. The siding on one side of the house also sustained damage. The monetary loss is estimated at $40,000 to $45,000. Shepherd said firefighters had difficulty 'knocking down the fire' because there were so many items stored in the garage. 'It got to us before we got to it,' he said. Fighting the fire in subzero temperatures made it difficult for firefighters because the water kept freezing on the ground, making traction difficult, and breathing apparatuses froze up between uses. No injuries were reported. The name of the homeowner was not available at press time. Fire crews were on the scene for about three hours. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
