WINTER PARK, Fla. – Gale Owen Creighton of Oviedo, Fla., passed away on Feb. 14, 2019. He was originally from Warsaw and a lifelong partner and employee of Creighton Brothers, a family farm and poultry complex.
He was born April 9, 1929, in Warsaw, to Russell Franklin Creighton and Gaynell Horn Creighton. After the early passing of his mother, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Helen Hose Creighton.
On Jan. 28, 1948, he married Betty Bright, who passed away in August 1990. He married Lois Honald 17 years ago; she survives.
Gale joined the Navy just prior to turning 18 years and served at the end of World War II. He attended Indiana Central College, now Indianapolis University, and graduated from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1950.
Gale’s work career included that as general manager of Creighton Brothers Feed Mill from its beginning in 1954 until his retirement in 1993. He then served on the Creighton Brothers Board.
Gale served two terms on the newly formed board of the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. Also, he served four years on the newly formed board of the Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission. He was chairman of the feed committee of Indiana State Grain and Feed Dealers Association.
Gale remained active in the Lutheran church.
He was fortunate to travel extensively once into retirement: two trips to Alaska via the West Coastal waters; two trips to Hawaii; seven European trips, and four were with church friendships and wife Lois. He wished to express he is “thankful to know that my best trip ever is just completed and I can enjoy what’s ahead in Life Eternal.”
Husband and Dad’s memory lives in the hearts of Lois Creighton, wife, Oviedo; three daughters: Sara Beth, Port Orange, Fla.; Laura Jo (husband Denny) Oros, Freeport, Fla.; and Cathy Creighton Martin, Bossier City, La.; and two sons, Rusty (wife Caroljo) Creighton, Orange Park, Fla., and Jon Marc (wife Lisa) Creighton, Port Orange.
“Papa” will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren: Christian Ransopher, Los Angeles, Calif.; Ashley (husband Mike) Putnam, Charleston, S.C.; Jo Dawn (husband Stephen) Brown, Texas; Stephen Creighton, Charleston; Andrew Creighton (wife Courtney), Tampa, Fla.; Mitchell Martin, Cincinnati, Ohio; Melissa Martin, Shreveport, La.; Michael Creighton (wife Caitie), Connecticut; Emily Creighton, Connecticut; Katie Williams (husband Geoff), Edgewater, Fla.; and Heather Schuller, Port Orange. The great-grandchildren are Liam, Anna Sophia, Cierra and Catherine Brown; Hailey, Hayes and Hunter Putnam; Landon and Liam Creighton; and Grayson Williams.
Gale is survived by a sister, Marilyn Dorsey, Columbia City; and brother, Bob Creighton, Nashville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Dorothy Snyder Darsey (Warsaw), Evelyn Tinkey (Warsaw) and David Creighton (Warsaw).
Gale also leaves families through his marriage to Lois: the Pam and Steve Grimes family, the Joan and John Paciga family, and the Paul and Nancy Honald family.
