SYRACUSE – Gail Lynn Searfoss, 59, of Syracuse, passed away Jan. 6, 2012, in her residence, after a two-month illness from cancer.

She was born Feb. 8, 1952, to Kenneth “LaMar” and Doris E. Hall Wagner. On Oct. 19, 1974, she married John P. Searfoss, who survives.

She attended New Paris Missionary Church from the day she was born. She served as the church treasurer for four years and was a Sunday school teacher for the first grade for many years. She also worked at Holdeman, Fulmer & Chiddister, Goshen, from 1977-83. She enjoyed camping in their RV and having friends and family to their home to enjoy their pool. She was an avid reader and a wonderful aunt, sister, wife and mother. Heavens gain but her family’s loss. She volunteered many hours with the Elkhart County 4-H Fair tractor pulls with her brother Cork, as well as supporting 4-H. She was a 1971 graduate of Indianapolis School of Business.

Also surviving are three stepchildren: Tina (and spouse Robert) Kocher, Syracuse; Tony Searfoss, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Teresa (and spouse Dennis) Linville, Nappanee; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Cork (and spouse Jan) Wagner; and three sisters: Connie Swinehart, Rita (and spouse Obie) Overholser; and Penny (and spouse Martin) Stroup.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at New Paris Missionary Church with Pastor David Hackney officiating. Burial will be in McClintic Cemetery.
