The first entry is in for the Animal Welfare League and Habitat for Humanity collaboration.
These two organizations are accepting “Habitats for Hounds” creative doghouses that will be auctioned off at this year’s Fur Ball Oct. 20.
The entry pictured was made by Phil Moore and sponsored by Ace Hardware, North Webster. The entry is a replica of an antique hardware store.
Cox Studios, Kosciusko Community Hospital, the builder’s association and others are planning to provide their own versions of a “Habitat for Hounds.”
Darla McCammon, of the Animal Welfare League, and Christon Clark, of Habitat for Humanity, are encouraging the community to participate by bidding on the creations or by building their own version. They hope to display some of the finished works at the First Friday event in October to give the public a preview.
The Fur Ball will again be hosted by the Warsaw Toyota dealership, which provides a showroom as a backdrop against the event. This year’s fur ball will again offer great entertainment with the Michele Payton band, an international flavor in a variety of appetizers in three different areas featuring Asian, Mexican and Italian cuisine.
The silent auction is again offering a number of amazing gifts on which friendly bidding competition will take place and a live auction will offer not only the doghouses but several new special items that will generate interest.
Reservations for the Fur Ball can be made through the Animal Welfare League at 574-267-3008.
Entries for the doghouse competition can be acquired at The Animal Welfare League or Habitat for Humanity offices or requested through the “contact us” section of the AWL website at www.awl-warsaw.org
