'Funny Feet' Dance At Honeywell Center Jan. 27

Posted
WABASH - The Wabash Valley Music Association will present Dance Kaleidoscope's mid-winter production of "Funny Feet" at the Honeywell Center Jan. 27 at 3 p.m.

"Funny Feet" emphasizes humor in modern choreography and the lighter side of legendary composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, J.S. Bach and Arthur Sullivan of Gilbert and Sullivan.

For the opening selection, David Hochoy - artistic director of the Indianapolis-based dance company - has blended short takes from Mozart's comic operas with the slow movement of the composer's "Clarinet Concerto."

Hochoy has crafted the program's second offering of music from Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. The final selection of the afternoon is "In the Moog," a work Hochoy says is inspired by "Switched-on Back," which is a record album famous in the 1960s for its revolutionary Moog synthesizer renderings of favorites by the baroque composer.

Dance Kaleidoscope was formed in 1972 in Indianapolis, where it regularly performs at the Indiana Repertory Theater and at Clowes Hall.
