Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
SYRACUSE – On May 12 the Syracuse-Wawasee Community will come together to raise funds for the Syracuse Sports Complex.
The Syracuse-Wawasee Community has not had a community sports complex in the past.
Recently, with the help from the Wawasee Kiwanis, Wawasee Pee Wee Football program and the Syracuse Parks Dept., this dream is becoming a reality. There has been more than $200,000 raised so far toward the project, from grants to individual donations, etc.
The event will begin at Wawasee High School. Anyone can participate, young or old.
There will be two courses, one is a little more than five miles and the shorter course is approximately three miles. Each participant is encouraged to get sponsors/donations.
Registration forms are available at the Syracuse Community Center 1013 N. Long Drive, Syracuse; Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce office, 110-1/2 E. Main St., Syracuse; or online at www.syracuseparks.org
For more information, call the parks department at 574-457-3440 or the chamber at 574-457-5637.
There will be prizes for the top three money raisers in each category and free items for each walker. Water, beverages and snacks will be available throughout the routes.
