WINONA LAKE - A fundraiser will be Wednesday for State Representative District 18 candidate Retha Hicks (R-Winona Lake).

The fundraiser will be at 7:30 p.m. at 1000 Park Bak-Cafe, downtown Winona Lake. All community members interested in hearing Hicks' platform or directing questions to Retha are invited to attend the event.

Hicks announced Feb. 11 that she was seeking the seat currently held by State Rep. Dave Wolkins (R-Winona Lake).

"Let us make Indiana a place we can all be proud of. Together, we can build the kind of leadership emphasizing collaboration, trust and growth," Hicks said.

Hicks holds 17 years of experience in local government. She is Winona Lake's clerk-treasurer.

Hicks is a member of the Indiana League of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers and has served as president, vice president, secretary and treasurer of the organization.

She has been involved in the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns serving on the executive committee, the board of directors and the following committees: education chair and co-chair, site selection committee past chair, budget and finance committee, legislative committee and finance policy committee. She is on the TrustIndiana Advisory Committee for State Treasurer Richard Mourdock.

Hicks is the recipient of the 2006 Kosciusko County Republican Hall of Fame award.

"Let your issues be known. Let your questions be answered. Let your voice be heard. I am excited to be community members' voice in government and I look forward to talking to community members on March 24," Hicks said.
