A fundraiser for a longtime former resident of Kosciusko County is being held Saturday at Miller’s Flea Market parking lot.
Saul Vallin is having a lengthy regimen of chemotherapy due to colon rectal cancer.
Vallin was born in Warsaw and lived in Kosciusko County for many years before moving to Fort Wayne. He and his wife, Rebecca, have three sons. He has been a Dalton Foundry employee for 19 years, with seven of those years as a supervisor.
In March, he was diagnosed with cancer. He had surgery May 19, and doctors told him he would need 12 treatments of chemotherapy once every other week.
Saturday’s fundraiser is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The location is at 520 Market St., Warsaw, next to the Dollar General Store.
All donations at the fundraiser will go toward Vallin’s medical bills. The fundraiser is being sponsored by the Salvation Army of Warsaw.
Food will be available by Los Gordos and China Express, and there will be hot dogs.
There will be carnival games for all ages, as well as raffles. A car show is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The bake sale will include cookies, pies and cakes, but there also will be snow cones and soda.
A Warsaw fire truck will be on hand, and Oldies 98.3 will have a live broadcast from 10 a.m. to noon. DJ David Robbins will spin music from noon to 6 p.m.
During the fundraiser, attendees can pick up informational cancer pamphlets, pens and cancer bracelets.
There will be a dunk tank and a jumping gym. Mike Braden will provide air-brushing tattoos.
