Friends and family of Aurora Shoemaker gathered together Sunday night on the south lawn of the Courthouse to share memories of the teen who went missing last year. Shoemaker’s remains were discovered Sept. 30 in a wooded area near the mobile home park she went missing from. Family described the girl as “a kind, loving person” who “loved everybody” and always stood up for what she thought was right. Shoemaker loved her family, animals and always had a big hug to share. Many of Shoemaker’s classmates also shared memories of their friendship with her. Those who gathered for the vigil lit candles and raised them in Shoemaker’s honor. The candles were donated by St. Anne’s Episcopal Church of Warsaw and Leesburg United Methodist Church. Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Warsaw also provided candles for the vigil. As the vigil closed, the family released white balloons into the sky. Balloons were donated by Creative Floral Designs in Warsaw. The family would also like to thank Tony Marshall for allowing the use of his public address system.
