REAL Services Inc. and Alzheimer's Services are co-sponsoring a series of free Lunch and Learn educational programs tailored for informal caregivers in each of the five counties they serve.
Several sessions already have taken place, however a number of monthly sessions remain. Each session runs from 12:10 to 1:30 p.m. and a complimentary lunch, including beverage, will be provided to all informal caregivers who call for a reservation.To ensure a lunch, call 574-284-2644 or toll-free 800-552-7928, Ext. 243, to make reservations at least one week prior to the scheduled program. The remaining sessions in each county are different.
n St. Joseph County sessions are: April 24, Understanding Medications: What You Don't Know Could Hurt You; May 22, When a Loved One Has Dementia: Managing Day-to-Day Challenges; and June 26, Caregiver Relaxation and Special Therapies. These three sessions will be held at the Jewish Federation of Saint Joseph Valley, 3202 Shalom Way, South Bend.
n Elkhart County sessions are: today, Diet and Nutrition; May 2, Caregiver Relaxation and Special Therapies; and June 6, When a Loved One Has Dementia: Managing Day-to-Day Challenges. These three sessions will be held at Sailor Community Center on the campus of Hubbard Hill Estates, 28070 CR 24, Elkhart.
n Kosciusko county sessions are: April 17, Maximizing Function through Special Therapies and Adaptive Aids; May 15, Diet and Nutrition; and June 19, Developing Caregiver Skills and Managing Stress. These three sessions will be held at Grace College, Westminster Hall, 105 9th St., Winona Lake.
n Marshall County sessions are: April 9, When a Loved One Has Dementia: Managing Day-to-Day Challenges; May 14, When is Hospice Appropriate and What is Palliative Care?; and June 11, Diet and Nutrition. These three sessions will be held at the Marshall County Council on Aging Life Enrichment Center, 1305 W. Harrison St., Plymouth.
n LaPorte County sessions are: April 16, Developing Caregiver Skills and Managing Stress; May 21, Understanding What Services are Available to Keep Loved Ones at Home and How to Know When it's Time; June 18, Understanding Options for Residential Care and How to Know When it's Time. These three sessions will be held at the Michigan City Senior Center, Two on the Lake, Michigan City.
