Free Skating Saturday On Opening Day Of Ice RinkWINONA LAKE — The public is welcome to enjoy free skating at the Miller Sunset Pavilion's ice rink on Saturday, Nov. 19.
That was shared during the Winona Lake Town Council's meeting on Tuesday.
The K21 Health Foundation is sponsoring the skating on Saturday, the grand opening day for the pavilion along Park Avenue in Winona Lake. People can enjoy the activity from noon to 8 p.m.
The public is also welcome to come out to a ribbon-cutting for Miller Sunset Pavilion at 2 p.m. today.
Saturday's grand opening coincides with The Village at Winona's tree lighting ceremony and other Christmas events.
The tree lighting should take place around 6:15 to 6:30 p.m., said Village Managing Director Nick Hauck. It's by LetterWood.
There will be train rides around the island from 3:30 to about 6 p.m., he added.
"We'll have ornament making underneath the center pavilion in the Village (in the brick alley)," he said. That should be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., with there also being carolers in the Village then.
People can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies and see Santa from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. The event includes a toy collection for Toys for Tots, with people asked to bring new, unwrapped items.
