Free Concert Planned At South Whitley

SOUTH WHITLEY - River City Teen Turnaround is hosting a concert for all ages at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the River City Campground, outside South Whitley.

The concert is free and will feature musical artists Jerry Hensley, Columbia City; Abe Hepler and Megan King, both from the Warsaw area; and One Way, a group made up of Warsaw Community High School students; along with several others.

"It's all Christian music," Jeff Bradley, concert coordinator, said. "It's a mix of folk sounds to alternative (Christian music)."

Donations from the event will help with the cost of the Prolife Music Festival, a concert Warsaw has put on the past two years.

"What the money is going to be for (is) expenses (for the Prolife Music Festival)," Bradley said. "Warsaw has had (the prolife concert) for a couple of years now."

Bradley said Saturday's concert also will help "raise money for pregnancy crisis houses" in the Warsaw and Wabash areas.

Women involved with the pregnancy crisis houses "get Christian-based counselors (who) help them work through problems" associated with pregnancy.

This year is the first time for the River City Teen Turnaround concert and if successful, it will continue next year, Bradley said.

"I'm real excited," he said. "What I really wanted to do is open up an area where local Christian artists can perform because there's a lot of Christian artists in the area that don't have (places other than church to) entertain," Bradley said.

Besides music, food also will be provided for concert-goers.

"We're having a big pot of chili, hot dogs and pop," Bradley said. And all is provided free of cost.

Bradley encourages everyone to bring a friend, an open mind and a strong conviction of praise.
