Free Bicycle Skills Classes Being Offered

Posted
The Warsaw-Winona Lake Ride and Walk Advisory Committee will offer free bicycle skills classes in conjunction with the Kosciusko Community YMCA.

The classes are free to members and non-members and will teach bicycling skills to encourage safe and confident cycling.

There are two classes being offered at two times.

Adult Basic Cycling Classes, or Skills 101, will help bicyclists gain the confidence they need to ride safely and legally in traffic.

Cyclists will learn bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat tire, bike skills and crash avoidance techniques.

Skills 101 is a three-part class with the next open session scheduled to begin Oct. 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kosciusko Community YMCA.

Riders will participate in an on-street education session Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the classes will wrap up on Nov. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a second classroom session.

Keeping Kids Safe is a class for adults to help them understand how to keep children safe on bicycles. This is a one-session class that will be taught Sept. 18 and Nov. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the YMCA.
