BOURBON – Frederick W. Shively, 74, Etna Green, passed away at 10:30 a.m. April 4, 2015, in the care of his family. He was born Aug. 6, 1940, in Nappanee, to Wayne and Arlene Wysong Shively. On July 30, 1958, he married the love of his life, Wanda Hall, who survives. He was a 1958 graduate of Bourbon High School. He was a lifetime area resident. He was a truck driver for Petrolane Inc. for many years, and then worked at Newmar Corporation as a receiving clerk, where he retired in 2009. He was known by many, particularly in the horse circuit. He was a member of the Frances Slocum Trail Riding Club of Peru, a past member of the Silver Dollar Saddle Club of Bourbon, Camp-We-Can of Rochester (riding club for the handicapped). He was always a huge help during the Marshall County 4-H Fair with the Horse and Pony. Whether it was for his own grandchildren or someone else’s child, he would always be of help. During his daily routine, he always found time to solve all the issues at the coffee shop with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Also surviving are three children: Doug Shively, Bourbon; Darla (and spouse Philip) Kiefer, Bremen; Dawn (and spouse Ernest) Raber, Etna Green; nine grandchildren: Travis M. (and spouse Amanda), Trenton F. (and spouse Nicole) and Taylor Shively; Melissa (and spouse Kevin) Faulstich; Darin, Kelsey and Drew Kiefer; Jessica (and spouse Nathan) Dahl; and Tyler Raber; and 10 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Ethan, Brooklyn and Bentley Shively; Dawson and Brayden Kiefer; Payton and Parker Faulstich; Liam and Chloe Long; and a brother, Steve (and spouse Pat) Shively, Etna Green. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Shively, who died Feb. 6, 1983; and his mother, Arlene Shively, who died Sept. 25, 2012. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Camp Creek Church of the Brethren, 7486 N. Ind. 19 Etna Green, with Pastor Mark Riege officiating. Burial is in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
