AKRON - Frederick Daniel Rohrer, 85, of 3901 Montecito Drive, Denton, Texas, and formerly of Elkhart and Rock Lake, Akron, died March 24, 2010, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 17, 1925, in North Manchester, to Charles C. and Mary E. Flory Rohrer. On Feb. 18, 1950, he married Betty Lou Clark, of Akron, who survives.

He was an electronic engineer as well as a landlord. He was a 1943 graduate of Chester High School, and attended North Manchester College. He then graduated with a degree in applied radio engineering from Valparaiso Technical Institute in 1952. After retirement, they moved to Texas in 2002, to be near family due to his illness. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force as a supply sergeant stationed in Bolling Field, Washington, D.C. They were members of Christian Center, South Bend, where he served as an elder for many years. While living in the Akron area they attended Akron Church of God. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last February.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Warner, Denton, Texas, and Sherrie (and spouse Randy) Brandt, Highland Village, Texas; a son, Terry Rohrer, Tennessee; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, John (and spouse Mary Ann) Rohrer, North Manchester; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (and husband Max) Stinson, and Donna (and spouse Larry) Wahlig; a brother-in-law, Bob (and spouse JoAnn) Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. James Shrock officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.

Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
