SYRACUSE – Fred “Ted” Auer, 89, of Syracuse, died May 2, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.
He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Syracuse, to George and Lillie Roberts Auer. On April 5, 1941, he married Clara E. “Katie” Held, who survives. They recently celebrated their 70 years of marriage together.
A lifetime Syracuse resident, he worked at Liberty Coach, Syracuse, for 30 years, Fairmont Homes, Nappanee, for five years, and Vega Corp. for five years before retiring. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed spending time in his garden, then driving around his tractor handing out his vegetables to friends.
Also surviving are a son, John (and spouse Lavera) Auer, Nappanee; two grandchildren; a sister, Marietta (and spouse Tom) Pulley, Marion; and a brother, Robert Auer, Milford. He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Auer.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Harlan Steffen presiding. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
