BOURBON – Fred Howard, 76, Bourbon, passed away peacefully March 6, 2016, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. On Jan. 6, 1940, in Magoffin County, Ky., he was born the son of Homer and Edna Allen Howard. On Sept. 30, 1960, in Knox, he married Donna Jean Scott, who survives. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a trailer delivery driver for Fairmont Homes, Nappanee, and had worked at Morarity Pole Barns, Argos, and after retirement he worked at Wal-Mart as a maintenance person. In his spare time he enjoyed being a pilot, flying and being an instructor. He was a member of the Warsaw Gun Club and the Flying Club of Mentone. Also surviving are three children: Teresa (and spouse David) Barnes, Columbia City; Janet (and spouse Brian) Johnson, Argos; Kelly (and Joleen) Howard, Bourbon. He was further blessed with nine grandchildren: Karissa (and spouse) Gephart, Lanessa Salazar (and fiancé Jeremy Didier), Anthony (and spouse Erin) Salazar, Derek (and spouse Candy) Tracy, Whitney (and spouse Casey) Girton, Kelsey Johnson (and Tim Yuhas), Tyson Howard, Linzie Gatchell, Taelynne (and spouse Justin) Ousley and Kenadee Howard; three sisters: Fafalene (and spouse Bill) Jenkins, Winamac; Iva Jean Minix, Knox; Sharon (and spouse Jim) Baker, Smithville, Tenn.; and a brother, Roger (and Phyllis) Howard, LaPorte. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cliffton and Justin; and three sisters, Joyce Sallee, Carolyn Minix and Mandy Howard. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, with Pastor Mark Cottrill officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
