Fraud

Editor, Times-Union:

I am responding to the article about the bad builder. I believe it is the same guy - the story fits - that was published on Monday, 30-year roof at a low rate.

I am acquainted with a woman who had, I believe, had been taken by the same person for every dime she had saved back to get her roof done that is in desperate need of being fixed. Same story, took down payment, wrote a contract, even done damages to her house that caused even more damages to her house. This lady has no way of paying to get this roof done now except to save up again.

When she approached the police to have him investigated for fraud, they told us that home improvement fraud is not a felony and that there would be little that could be done other than a little jail time.

This man has taken six people for God knows how much and is filing bankruptcy and is going to get away with it. This man has taken more money in a six-month period than some people make in a year and is going to be able to file bankruptcy.

I urge anyone that is going to have work done to their home by a contractor do not give money up front. Apparently, whoever is out there working for an honest living, is in the wrong business.

To the man that is doing this, how can you sleep at night knowing you cheated people out of their hard-earned money? You being a God-fearing man, hope you know that you will be judged in your final day. Everyone needs to come forward that has been taken by this man and get this matter fixed.
